Mirror  9-13-2019

She walks into the room
on a waft of her perfume
He tells a joke n laughs n leaves

what if I came to you unfinished
what if I came to you as a friend

The turntables on, dark french tunes
a candle that is red, burnt down low
city at night with people walking downtown real slow
on their knees hard working soles of their feet

what if I came to you unfinished
what if I came to you as a friend
maybe fear makes me fragile, like a mirror

A gentleman knows history, he knows his story
how to walk in and back out in a day
a petaled rose unfolds beside a note on the table
I know what it says
and it's a valley of space inside these verbs
action is rare, I'll take it from here

what if I came to you unfinished
what if I came to you as a friend
maybe fear makes us fragile, like a mirror
